Lady in Red

The woman in the red dress always stands out! My second favorite color dress after the classic little black dress is a fabulous red one of course! This one in particular was a complete score of $17 at Ross Dress for Less! I love the pencil shape and it is so comfortable. I usually gravitate towards pencil style dresses. It has a circle cutout in back as well. I wore this dress recently for a friend's wedding. This dress is perfect for a night out and for work with a cardigan.

I love a red dress paired with leopard accents just as much as I love a black dress paired with them. This a pretty plain dress, but by adding some fun accessories, I have created a "WOW" outfit. I have linked several similar red pencil dresses below!

An Instagram "Perfect" Life

I'm taking a moment today to get a little personal and share some of my thoughts.  I've always been a person who keeps a lot of my thoughts inside so I'm being a little more transparent today. That being said, I'll get right to it. We all don't live an Instagram perfect life.  Many of us only choose to show the fabulous parts and hide the tough times we really go through.  We move the clutter off of the table, so that we can take a visually interesting photo.  Our viewers won't see the messes in our lives, they only see the perfectly displayed things in our photos. We all do it! We posts things such as our new clothes, shoes, or the vacation we just went on.  We get so excited about the likes that our photos will receive that it makes us forget about the not so "perfect" things going on in our lives.  This brings me to my next point.

We all go through tough times in life, that's just life I guess.  As a twenty-something myself, I have gone through my share of rough times and I'm definitely still going through them. I have times when I break down and get anxious and stressed. The twenties are really a hard time. I have come to learn that things don't always go as planned.  Think back to your fifteen year old self.  You probably had visions of where you would be in your life at the very age you are now.  Maybe it's not exactly where you thought you would be.  Maybe you are a twenty-something still living at home with your parents, maybe you are plagued with mounds of student loans, maybe you are feeling pressure at a job you just tolerate to pay the bills, maybe you are feeling lost and are trying to find your place in this world,  maybe you are feeling like you are never going to find "the one" and are going to be alone forever, maybe you're in a relationship and you are not sure where it is going, maybe you are having trouble accepting that you are not in the same place as "everyone else" is who are the same age as you, or maybe you are just having a tough time accepting yourself and don't feel like you are good enough or worth it.  You might relate to one of these things, or maybe even all of them. 

The truth is, we all go through life at different speeds. There is no one "right" way to do life. We all deal with different circumstances in life that we can't always control. My point of today's post is to simply remind you twenty-somethings, even thirty-somethings, or anyone who is simply feeling this way, that you are not alone.  Sometimes the people you think have it all together, really don't. Instead of worrying about impressing people, we need to live for ourselves and find happiness. Comparison really is the thief of joy.  Just because someone posts a seemingly perfect photo, doesn't mean their life is perfect and yours is not. Even if you are stuck in rough patch or some say "Quarter-Life Crisis," know that there are other twenty-something's feeling the same way, me being one of them. These are some quotes that I have found helpful and I hope you do as well!

Oversized Pearls & Hot Pink

I definitely have a lot of pearls, but lately I was looking for a big, chunky Pearl cluster necklace. I found this one on etsy.com. There's just something about oversized creamy pearls that just makes me happy! When it comes to accessories, I love anything oversized that really makes a statement. More is definitely more in my book.

This skirt I purchased over the summer and is one of my favorites starting with its color of course, but it's also one of the most comfortable pencil skirts I own. This bag was a limited edition Target find several years ago and it still remains one of my favorites. Mixing older pieces with newer pieces can give you a whole new look and make you feel like you're wearing a new outfit. Jewelry can totally transform an outfit and make it feel completely different and new!

Leopard Lover

I may be known as the "Leopard Lover," but seriously, it's by far my favorite print! It's so versatile! After a very stressful week, one which involved a car accident, I needed something to cheer myself up a bit. What could do that more than a pair of new shoes?! Am I right, ladies?!! I'm so happy these showed up at my door today!

I absolutely love these leopard kitten heels from J. Crew and they were on sale! They still were a little bit pricey for the average girl on a budget, but I figured that the article of clothing that should be invested in is your shoes. After all, you do walk in them all day. I love the 2 1/4" heel on these beauties because it provides for easy walking in your 9 to 5 and can carry you to evening as well. Inspiration!

A world without color. Just imagine that for a minute. How boring that would be?! What a privilege it is to be able to see color! My career and life revolve around color and design. I can't imagine a life without them!

I'm sharing some photos I've taken of some of the things that inspire me, either in design, my art, or style. 

A collage board is a great way to display photos, paint samples, magazine clippings, fabric samples, etc. 

This photo of this beautiful peony was shot by my wonderful boyfriend.

Nature is always inspiring. There are so many pretty colors if you just take the time to look around. I love the last picture I took last fall, capturing the sun's rays.

The clothing pieces and accessories that I love have a direct affect on my designs and art as well. I believe that dressing is an art. The accessories are the what pull your whole look together, in a room or outfit. 

Keep your head up and your eyes open because anything you see can be something inspiring. There is so much beauty in the world if you take the time to notice it. I'd love to hear of the things that inspire you!

Big Bold Gold Watch

Watches are just as much a staple as they are a style statement. I love watches! Even though everyone basically checks the time on their phones, I love wearing a watch because it's like jewelry to me. I recently picked up this new watch and I love it! I generally gravitate towards oversized accessories.  I think a  boyfriend watch is a piece every woman should have in her wardrobe, no matter your budget. This one just happened to be a great price!  I purchased my gold watch in the store instead of on target.com. Fabulous Burlington Finds

Just recently, I picked up these two fabulous items from Burlington Coat Factory. You never know why you are going to find there! I love this cute black and white box with gold accents and it's perfect for me with its saying, "Glitter is my Favorite Color."

L'Oreal Color Riche Exclusive Collection Red Lipsticks

Red Lipstick has the power to transform your look from great to glamorous! Today, I'm sharing two lipsticks from the L'Oreal Color Riche Exclusive Collection Reds. I'm sharing Julianne's and Doutzen's Red. 

I love both of these colors and I think they look great against my skin tone. I love the contrast of a bright red lipstick against my porcelain skin. These two lipsticks do have different tones. Doutzen's leans more towards an orange-red, whereas Julianne's is more of a pink-red. I have shown swatches in both indoor lighting and natural to show what the color looks like in both. They both have a creamy texture too as they glide on your lips. They are pretty pigmented so there's no need for too many layers. 

I think anyone can wear these shades because it's all about the confidence you have to wear it it in the first place. If you have fair skin like me, try a bright red lip this season to contrast against your light skin. If you have medium to darker skin, try a medium red to a deep wine red  It will look beautiful!

Black & White Prints

Black and white never goes out of style. Black especially is that color that looks great on everyone and is that one color that can be worn all year long and look incredibly chic. 

I recently picked up this skirt from Burlington Coat Factory for an amazing price and it is by far one of my favorites! It's so comfortable and I love the split front detail in the front. I paired this fabulous skirt with a simple black tee and spiced it up with patent leather t-strap heels and layers of mixed metal chains.
